TOKYO SKYTREE



The Tokyo Skytree is a broadcasting and observation tower in Sumida, Tokyo, Japan. At a height of 2,080 feet it is the tallest tower* in the world, and the second tallest structure in the world after the Burj Khalifa.

*A tower is defined as: “a tall human structure, always taller than it is wide, for public or regular operational access by humans, but not for living in or office work, and is self-supporting or free-standing, which means no guy-wires for support. Continuously habitable buildings and skyscrapers, radio and TV masts, bridge towers, chimneys, transmission towers, sculptures and most large statues and obelisks do not come within the definition of tower”.

EVERGREEN POINT FLOATING BRIDGE



The Evergreen Point Floating Bridge, also known as the 520 Bridge and officially the Governor Albert D. Rosellini Bridge carries Washington State Route 520 across Lake Washington from Seattle to its eastern suburbs. The 7,710-foot-long floating span is the longest floating bridge in the world, as well as the world’s widest measuring 116 feet at its midpoint.

THE LONGEST SIGHTLINE ON EARTH



In standard atmospheric conditions, for an observer with eye level above sea level of 5 feet 7 inches, the horizon distance is about 3.1 miles.

The variables that go into determining the longest possible sightline are; height of the observer, height of the object being observed, air temperature and clear line of sight.

The longest theoretical sightline on earth 334 miles, from Mt. Dankova in Krgyzstan to Hindu Tagh in China.

The furthest photographed sightline in the world in the world is 275 miles from Pic de Finestrelles in the Spanish Pyrenees to Pic Gaspard in the French Alps.

MĀJULI ISLAND, INDIA



Mājuli Island is a river island in the Brahmaputra River, Assam, India. It had an area of 340 square miles at the beginning of the 20th century, but having lost significantly to erosion it covers 136 square miles as of 2014.

Mājuli Island is the largest island in a river in the world.

THE SAN JACINTO MONUMENT



The San Jacinto Monument is a 567.31-foot-high column located on the Houston Ship Channel in unincorporated Harris County, Texas, near the city of Houston. The monument is topped with a 220-ton star that commemorates the site of the Battle of San Jacinto, the decisive battle of the Texas Revolution.

The monument, constructed between 1936 and 1939 and dedicated on April 21, 1939, is the world's tallest masonry column and is part of the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site. By comparison, the Washington Monument is 554.612 feet tall, but remains the tallest stone monument in the world. The column is an octagonal shaft topped with a 34-foot Lone Star – the symbol of Texas. Visitors can take an elevator to the monument's observation deck for a view of Houston and the Battleship Texas.

HAMBACH SURFACE MINE AND SOPHIENHÖHE



The Sophienhöhe [spoil tip] is an artificial (man-made) hill in Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It was created by surface mining at the open cast lignite mine Tagebau-Hambach operated by RWE Power AG.

The distance (in respect to sea-level) between the top of Sophienhöhe and the lowest point of the pit is 1.952 feet. The tallest point of Sophienhöhe is Höller Horn at 955 feet above mean sea level. Sophienhöhe is the tallest artificial hill in the world.

Tagebau Hambach is the largest hole in Europe and is the lowest surface point in Europe, lying 961 feet below mean sea level.
