ADAM DUNN - THE ONLY MLB PLAYER TO HIT A HOME-RUN INTO ANOTHER STATE

Great American Ball Park, the home of the Cincinnati Reds, is located on the north bank of the Ohio River in Cincinnati. On August 10, 2004, Adam Dunn, playing for the Cincinnati Reds, became the only player in MLB history to hit a home run into another state. Dunn batting against Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Jose Lima, hit a 3-2 pitch over the center-field wall. The ball bounced off Mehring Way and landed on a piece of driftwood on the banks of the Oho River.

As the northern border of Kentucky is the low-water mark on the Ohio and Indiana shore as it was when Kentucky became a state in 1792, this means that Adam Dunn’s homerun left the state of Ohio and came to rest in Kentucky.

PARTING OF THE WATERS NATIONAL NATURAL LANDMARK - TWO OCEAN PASS

Two Ocean Pass is a mountain pass on North America's Continental Divide, in the Teton Wilderness, which is part of Wyoming's Bridger-Teton National Forest. The pass is notable for Parting of the Waters, where one stream, North Two Ocean Creek, splits into two distributaries, Pacific Creek and Atlantic Creek, at Parting of the Waters National Natural Landmark. These two creeks ultimately flow into their respective oceans.  Atlantic Creek water eventually flows into the Yellowstone River and empties into the Gulf of Mexico via the Missouri River and Mississippi River. Pacific Creek water eventually flows into the Snake River and empties into the Pacific via the Columbia River.

MISSISSIPPI RIVER

The Mississippi River is the second longest river in North America, flowing 2,350 miles from its source at Lake Itasca* through the center of the continental United States to the Gulf of Mexico.

There are 7.489 gallons of water in a cubic foot. One cubic foot of water weighs 62.4 pounds. A 48 foot semi-truck trailer is a 3,600 cubic foot container.

At Lake Itasca, it would take 10 minutes for one semi-trailer of water to flow out of the lake into the Mississippi.

At St. Anthony Falls**, the equivalent of 3 semi-trailers full of water goes over the falls every second.

At New Orleans, the equivalent of 166 semi-trailers of water flow past Algiers Point each second.

*Lake Itasca is a small glacial lake in Minnesota that is known for being the headwaters of the Mississippi River.

**St. Anthony Falls is located northeast of downtown Minneapolis. The natural falls have been replaced by a concrete overflow spillway.
