Winners of the Masters golf tournament keep their
jacket for the first year after their first victory, then return it to the
club to wear whenever they visit. A golfer can possess only one Masters green
jacket. If a golfer wins multiple Masters, the original jacket is awarded on
any subsequent victory.
In 2017, a green jacket that was found at a thrift
store in Toronto in 1994 was sold at auction for $139,000. The original owner’s
name had been cut out it, but Augusta National confirmed its authenticity. It
is believed that the jacket is most likely from the 1950s based on the style
of the tag.
