SERIES 1996 AND EARLIER
On
the reverse side of the $100 banknote is an image of Independence Hall. The
time on the clock according to the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing is
approximately 4:10. (The number 4 on the clock face is “IV”, while the real
Independence Hall has “IIII”). Also, according to the Bureau of Engraving and
Printing, there are no records as to why 4:10 is shown as the time on the
clock.

SERIES 2009a
The
time on the clock is 10:30. Again, no records exist as to why the clock time
is shown as 10:30.
